This is quite a departure for the artist. The old Savoy Hotel in Cheltenham was taken over by a company who specialised in ‘themed’ Hotels. The building was styled to the last detail as post 1st World War deco and chic. The owner asked if a painting could be done ‘in the style of’ the leading abstract and semi-abstract artist Wassily Kandinsky; one of the Bauhaus group until closed by the Nazi’s in 1933.
